Queensland Art Gallery – GOMA
The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA)
Located at the Northern-end of the South Brisbane (Southbank) Cultural Precinct, affectionately known simply as GOMA spread across two adjacent river-side buildings it holds a collection of over 17,000 works of historical, modern and contemporary art.
It's a favourite with parents and children, local and visiting, as it stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions that are typically child-friendly, but also host the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinémathèque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum.
QAGOMA Children's Art Centre works with artists to create interactive installations, artist projects and activities for kids and families. They also offer Toddler Tuesday, a free booked program which uses games, storytelling and making activities to encourage toddlers, along with their parents and carers, to have fun while learning about art. Entry to the general gallery and the Children's Art Centre is FREE.
The gallery also invites parents and carers with babies aged 0 – 12 months to Art Starters, a new pilot program that explores Yayoi Kusama's exhibition 'Life is the Heart of a Rainbow' through a 45-minute engaging tour and multi-sensory interactive play session.
